My first horror trailer analysis

"The Fourth Kind" exposes the terrified revelations of witnesses of supposed alien life forms. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share identical details in which is being investigated by a psychologist who is played by Milla Jovovich.
The film "The Fourth Kind" is a common conventional horror film which is based on a "real" story therefore how the trailer is set up is trying to show the realism to the film by censoring out the face of the victim and putting the actress who is playing her in a split screen medium shot. The whole point of the trailer is to try to test the audiences reaction and persuade them to watch the film in the cinema, the use of the close up of the owl who is stereotypically a creature of the night connoting darkness and spookiness.

When actress Milla Jovovich is being seen through a medium shot when talking whilst the camera pans the dark forest background which is a typical horror convention to make it appear as if she is being watched by someone or something which creates a typical horror film enigma. Milla shows a remarkable similar features to the person played who we as audiences are unaware of her name. As Milla shows these similar body type and face we as the audience have no trouble establishing her as a realistic character in the scene which helps enable verisimilitude within the film.
